5 Tips to map out your event year
Updated: May 22, 2020
Events is the most effective platform to connect with business owners, CEO’s and company executives. It’s a great way to engage new clients and prospects no matter what size you are as a business. Hosting events for your business is also another great way to generate leads, enhance your brand and stand out from your competitors by creating an exciting and engaging platform for your target market.
Mapping out your year of events is important for your team and business growth. We’ve put together 5 tips on mapping out your event year and we know that you're going to love it.
First up…
Networking events for the year – Outline the ‘must attend’ events for the year and add them to your calendar immediately. These are the networking events that you know will deliver great value, connections or new business. Seek at least one new networking event every quarter and two large networking events throughout the year. A business leader or their sales teams need to aim to attend a minimum of two networking events a week in order to grow their business. Book them today!

Attend two conferences a year – One for leadership and the other one, industry specific. The leadership conference is for you and your executive team to develop your skills as business leaders. Attending events that have business leaders from around Australia or the world that have made a mark will inspire you with new ideas and other great ways to grow your business or company. Industry specific is to update your team on your industry, to network and create potential collaboration between your colleagues. Learn from their experiences to better your skills and serve your clients better.
Exhibit or sponsor an event – Exhibiting or sponsoring at an event allows you to reach your direct target market and enables you to utilise an event platform to be in front of your customers face-to-face. You can utilise your space or sponsoring benefits to launch a new product or service, strengthen your reach with your existing customers, build new relationships and align your brand by demonstrating, educating and adding value through the event.

Staff events – Planning out your staff events, Christmas party, awards and recognition to highlight the great work that they are delivering for your company is super important in keeping them engaged. It’s a great way to reinforce the values and culture of the company and it improves staff empowerment. The power of these events has a direct impact on your business and engaged employees are 87% less likely to leave your company.
Extra Tip: Plan a minimum of two social events and two work related events.
Workshops - If you are a serviced based business or company, creating a workshop to generate leads is one of the most effective ways to communicate your service and reach your target market. Although it requires a bit of work, (we can help!) it’s well worth creating a value driven workshop for your target market. Our recommendation is to have a long term strategy for your workshops to ensure that you see the return on investment for your efforts. Content and presentations need to be short, sharp and sweet. Ensure that there is a call to action at each touch point i.e. entry, on and exit.
